35.1 million tourists visited Florida in Q3 2022

Residents of all US states continue to visit Florida at record rates, while international tourism still hasn’t quite rebounded to the pre-pandemic level.

The marketing agency Visit Florida shared statistics for the 3rd quarter of 2022, which says that 35.1 million tourists visited the state over that time. It is 6.9% more than last year and 8% more than over the same period in 2019. The tourism industry has been demonstrating better performance than in the year before the pandemic for five quarters in a row, which suggests sustainable recovery.

Tourism is the cornerstone of the Florida economy, so the state administration has assigned $50 million for marketing to Visit Florida this year. Immediately after Hurricane Ian, this public-private organization launched a promotional campaign worth about $2.7 million to attract tourists to the areas not affected by the natural disaster.

Over the first nine months of 2022, Florida was visited by 104.4 million people (97.7 million of them from the USA), which is 15.3% more than last year and 4.1% more than in 2019, according to this platform’s data. As for international tourists, there were approximately 5 million of them over the first three quarters of the year, which is 30% less than in the pre-pandemic 2019.

According to Dana Young, President and CEO at Visit Florida, it is now obvious that people are planning vacations in the Sunshine State in spite of everything.
