Johnny Morris, CEO at Bass Pro Shops, shared the plans of developing Valhalla Island Resort on the oceanfront in Florida Keys.
Valhalla Island Resort is the largest resort property in this region, sprawling over 175 acres of land along the coast with breathtaking views. More than a half of the area will be reserved for vegetation. A drive from the Marathon International Airport will take only 15 minutes; from Miami, two hours; from Key West, a little over an hour.
Valhalla Island Resort will offer its guests access to deep-water areas, a marina with a full range of services, perfectly equipped housing, and most importantly, a unique combination of first-rate opportunities for inshore and offshore fishing by Florida Keys. The Gulf Stream is running nearby, which guarantees successful fishing for numerous fish species.
The most advanced sustainable development technologies will be used for construction. For instance, all resort buildings will be carbon-neutral and have minimum environmental footprint to protect the natural ecosystems of this area and its biological diversity. Energy sources will include, among other types, solar and geothermal power. Rain water will be collected and utilized. Buildings will be oriented so as to provide the best natural ventilation.
Nearby hotels in the immediate vicinity of the resort will undergo large-scale renovations and turn into fully repaired apartment blocks with comfortable residences for the staff.
Valhalla Island Resort will stimulate the development of tourism in Florida Keys, especially in the segment of nature-oriented tourism and sports fishing. To achieve that, the developer Bass Pro Shops is going to communicate information of the wonderful fishing and leisure opportunities to all potential visitors from all over the world.
Construction of the resort is scheduled for completion within the next two years.
