A mansion in Bay Harbour Islands, Florida, is listed for $8.4 million—a record-setting amount for the local market

As the South Florida real estate market overheated, the small and, until recently, not too famous town of Bay Harbour Islands has grown popular among fans of opulent mansions over the past few years. The town consists of two islands to the north of the Biscayne Bay and has a population of 6,000 people.

A unique mansion in the “organic modern” style with a floor area of 511 square metres was recently commissioned and listed for sale here. The asking price is $8.4 million—a record-setting amount for a non-waterfront home in Bay Harbour Islands.

The property was designed by Stephanie Halfen, Founder of SDH Studio Architecture + Design. This estate features seven bedrooms, six and a half bathrooms, and a façade decorated with coral and shell stone. These materials are typical for early Floridian architecture.

The combination of natural materials and modern minimalism creates an atmosphere of tropical luxury indoors. The floor is tiled with large blocks of limestone, and the ground-floor living room boasts 3.6-metre ceilings. The floor-to-ceiling windows are decorated with contrasting dark frames. The master bedroom on the first floor is adorned with grey marble and dark wood. One wall in the walk-in wardrobe is decked with travertine.

The kitchen is equipped with Italian furniture with black lacquered cabinets, premium home appliances, and quartz countertops.

An opulent mansion in South Florida certainly would not be complete without a backyard with lush greenery and an 11-metre swimming pool. Additional amenities include an outdoor shower, a summer kitchen with black granite countertops, and a covered al-fresco dining area.
