Florida was visited by a record-setting number of tourists in Q1 2022

According to a fresh report by Visit Florida, the state’s tourism industry is rebounding. In the first quarter of 2022, Florida was visited by a record-setting number of 36 million people.

This is 39.6% more than in the first quarter of 2021, before vaccines became widely available; about 19.3% more than in the same period of 2020, when the pandemic first hit, and more than 1.3% more than in the first quarter of 2019, when we haven’t even heard about the coronavirus. The influx of tourists is recorded both in the Pinellas County and in the greater Tampa Bay area.

Santiago Corrada, President and CEO of Visit Tampa Bay, expects the cumulative hotel revenue to reach almost a billion dollars this year. Statistics show that 95% of tourists come from other US states. When international travel restrictions are lifted, the flow of tourists is expected to increase further, with foreign holiday-makers joining in.

The positive trend is therefore recovering after an interruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The demand for hotels and rental homes will continue to increase consistently. This makes investment in Florida residential property a particularly attractive opportunity to save money and generate income.
