Instead of buying a house on wheels and renting land, the Zephyrhills developer rents both at the same price - about $1,750 a month for a three bedroom and two bathrooms.
Florida continues to experience an affordable housing crisis, and ERC Communities Inc. believes modular homes can solve the problem.
According to ERC Communities, modular homes offer better quality than mobile homes and trailers, and similar amenities for single-family homes. The company planned a modular community of 60 homes with three bedrooms and two bathrooms to be rented out for about $1,750 per month at Zephyrhill.
"The very fact that you have something that can be as affordable as this - I think similar square meters, just under 1,400 square feet in a brand-new traditional home, should be in the range of 2,000 dollars, and the same with apartments." said ERC Communities Inc. Jerry Ellenburg. "In this way, we fill a gap in accessibility that otherwise does not exist".
All houses in the community will be leased only - none of them will be available for purchase.
