The popularity of real estate as an investment property has fallen to a 5-year low

Real estate is again the best choice for investment, at least according to the annual survey of typical Americans, but its popularity has fallen to a five-year low.

In a Gallup poll conducted among 1,013 American adults, 34% of respondents in April, when asked to choose between real estate, stocks, bonds, gold and savings accounts, said that real estate is their preferred option in terms of saving money. This is nothing new. This survey has put real estate in the first place for 11 years in a row in a survey conducted in 2011.

Despite this, the popularity of real estate has plummeted. its share has decreased from a record high of 45% last year to a minimum not seen since 2018. This downturn in sentiment is consistent with tough conditions in the real estate sector.

According to Zillow, despite rising mortgage rates, real estate prices in the US rose by 5% last year and by 40% in the era of the pandemic.

Now the question of how investors define the concept of real estate remains difficult.
